Alexa Knutzen

Ballet - Jazz

Ms. Knutzen was born and raised in Mapleton, Utah and started dancing at the age of three. She trained under the direction of Jennie Creer-King at Ballet West Academy at Thanksgiving Point. It was there where Ms. Knutzen received her well rounded training in ballet, jazz, contemporary and modern dance. Throughout her life, she has trained with some of America’s most respected teachers and choreographers such as: Roderick George, Susan Jaffee, Jan Fugit, Wilson Dominguez, Duncan Cooper, Mandy Moore, Mme Peff Modelski, Jessica Thompson, Lindsay Folkman and Layla Amis. Ms. Knutzen is currently continuing her dance education by studying Ballet at The University of Utah’s School of Dance. She plans to graduate from the U of U with a BFA in Ballet in the fall of 2020.

Ms. Knutzen has had the opportunity to perform many different roles throughout her life. Some of her favorites being: Soloist in Roderick George’s production of FEM Queen; Black Bird in Ballet West Academy at Thanksgiving Point’s (BWATP) production of Snow Maiden; Season Soloist in BWATP’s production of Vivaldi; Role of Fox in BWATP’s Production of Pinocchio; Snow Queen in PCB’s production of the Nutcracker; Role of Tall Swan in PCB’s production of Swan Lake.

Because of Ms. Knutzen’s love for the arts and the stage, she has participated in The Miss America Organization. She has held two local titles, as well as placing second runner up at The Miss Utah Scholarship Pageant in 2017 and 2018. During her time involved with the MAO, she has spread her love for Art Therapy and the special needs community around the state of Utah. Ms. Knutzen currently works with Primary Children's Hospital and various locations around the state bringing dance and art therapy into the lives of the many.

Ms. Knutzen now has the honor of teaching the next generation of dancers. She is currently a dance instructor for Ballet West Academy at Thanksgiving Point, Utah Dance Artists and Maple Mountain Drill Team.
