Nearly 15 months ago, we closed the doors to our family business for two weeks, which quickly became a much longer and harder journey than we ever imagined. As a business owner treading an unprecedented path, I remember sinking to my knees and praying to God, asking for wisdom, to be resilient, resourceful and a responsible steward over UDA – and uphold a healthy institution for ALL to come home to.
UDA teachers and staff worked harder than ever, while sacrificing personal and family time to create a bridge from CRISIS to CONNECTION. Yet, by April 1st, 2020 UDA lost 20% of our business, 30% by May, and in June 2020 I quit counting and put all my faith, trust and the future of our studio in God’s hands moving forward. Fifteen months later, after braving the biggest storm in UDA history, "WE ARE STILL HERE". While "Storm COVID" derailed and uprooted, God’s Grace provided us the strength to welcome the moisture, take deeper roots and find nourishment in adversity to remain Stalwart and Standing.
Today as we CELEBRATE UDA’s 20th Anniversary Recital, "RISE" – we thank YOU – our UDA Family for "Rising" through these difficult challenges alongside us and bestowing your continued trust, support, and business. We would have not made it to this day without YOU! Today, might we acknowledge:
These students are not just dancers – THEY ARE HEROES!
This is not just a family gathering – IT IS HEALING!
We are not just a dance studio - WE ARE A HEART!
Today is not just a recital – IT IS A HOMECOMING!
As we end this season with a return to Corner Canyon High School, may we CELEBRATE the "first step" towards returning, rebuilding, and reconnecting at Utah Dance Artists in 2021-22!
