About Marissa

Marissa

Recital Production Assistant - Preschool & Pre-K/Kinder Classes (Tap/Jazz Combo - Ballet)

Marissa started dancing when she was just three-years-old. Her childhood was filled with lots of ballet, tap, jazz and tumbling classes. She danced at a competitive level for about 6 years in the areas of ballet and jazz and was a cheerleader for three years at Alta High School (Sophomore, JV, and Varsity); choreographing many of the team dances. After high school, Marissa's passion for dance continued and she started teaching dance to girls ages 3 to 8. She then attended Ricks College for 2 years earning her Associates Degree and then served an LDS mission in South Korea. After her mission she married, attended the University of Utah and started a family. Marissa graduated from the University of Utah with a BS in Health Education; She has four kids- twin boys who are eleven, a 6-year-old girl who dances at UDA and a 3-year-old boy who tries his hardest to make her life as busy as possible! Marissa also loves exercise and has taught many cross-training workout classes. She loves teaching and working with children and feels that dance teaches self-confidence, inspires creativity, and helps develop a strong work ethic. A recent accomplishment this past year was Marissa receiving 2nd place in the "Peoples Choice Award" in UDA's "That's a First" recital, for outsanding, creative and theme appropriate choreography.
